On 2nd July, volunteers of Parvaah, along with residents and nature lovers of Delhi, organized a protest campaign outside “The Mother's International School”. The aim of the campaign was to raise objection against the felling of big and healthy trees on Aurobindo Road, which had been continuously being carried out on the road for a week and stop tree-cutting immediately. The cutting of trees was a part of a project aimed at widening the Aurobindo Marg and reducing congestion on the road. Our young volunteers and other tree lovers formed human chains and highlighted the importance of saving trees. Our children volunteers had also tied rakhis around the trunks of the trees whose branches were already cut off by the Public Works Department (PWD) and held placards with slogans underlining the numerous benefits of trees written on them. This protest campaign has prompted Imran Hussain, the environment minister of the Delhi government, to instruct the Forest Department to stop cutting of trees on the road, thereby resulting in a victory for all nature lovers of Delhi.
