Many women and young girls in low-income communities continue to face serious barriers to menstrual hygiene. The lack of access to sanitary products—driven by poverty, silence, and stigma—leads to widespread reproductive tract infections, urinary problems, cervical cancer, and even infertility. For young girls, it often means missing school, limiting their future and self-confidence
In response to this pressing need, Parvaah organized a Sanitary Pad Distribution and Menstrual Health Awareness Drive in Shri Ram JJ Camp, Dhaula Kuan—a community where these issues are often hidden but deeply felt.
Highlights of the Initiative
Volunteer Engagement
Over 15 volunteers, including female students from Delhi University and a local ASHA Worker, joined the campaign, engaging directly with women and girls in the community.
Medical Counseling
Two doctors set up inside the community centre, offering personal consultations and educating women on menstrual health, safe practices, and related health concerns.
Sanitary Pad Distribution
Sanitary napkins and informational pamphlets were distributed to women and adolescent girls, combining immediate relief with lasting knowledge.
Door-to-Door Awareness
Volunteers visited homes, encouraging open conversations and helping women feel seen, heard, and supported without judgment.
